This first week, Dave looked into the text of Mark 13:24-37 and how it tells us that hope is found in the present and oftentimes the hope that is talked about in the future is used by the powerful to manipulate and fool. Dave also discussed the historical context of Isaiah and the text of Isaiah 64:1-9, and challenged our understanding of the Prophets and prophecy. He reminded us that when we look at prophecy as a prediction of the end times and believe that our salvation in Jesus will only happen in the distant future, we forget that we have a responsibility to the present.
This Land Was Your Land, This Land Is My Land, This Land Is Made For Me & Me . In this study, we examined the text and historical context of Joshua 3:7-17 in an attempt to understand the meaning of the violence and ideas of peace as it's communicated in the Old and New Testaments.
